  • Points are Updated

The points have been updated through Round 19. I apologize for the weird formatting of the page. Hopefully, we will have a better layout for next year.

  • SEQuads Adaptation

Just as Darwin's imaginary theory states, the strong will survive. SEQuads will adapt to the impending doom and reformulate our racing strategy. I just wanted to put a post out here that actually had a positive ring to it so that everyone didn't stay so bummed about potentially losing their chosen sport.

We have been approached by a few tracks about renting the track for race day. At current, this seems like the most viable option. This would still allow us to race on these top notch tracks. The kicker here is that we would require a few volunteers (gate workers, flaggers, score keepers, etc) to make it work. I have no doubt that our close knit community could pull together to make this happen. People say a lot of negative things about quad riders, but they never say that the quad racing community is full of sorry, selfish people. Almost everyone I know in this sport would sacrifice their own success to help a complete stranger. You won't find that in any other form of racing. There is comradery in our suffering.

The bottom line is that we will adapt to this ever changing environment and come out stronger and more willing to survive. We will do this as a community, together.

Let's get through these next few months with our heads up high and willing to sacrifice some of our personal time to better the sport and our series. We may be calling on you from time to time to give us feedback about ideas. Please take the time to do that. It may mean the success or failure of our series.

Also, please be patient as we work out the remainder of our schedule for 2006 and please stay posted to this website as we may need to disperse information about an event in a very short time frame.

    thanks,
    .brit

  • Big Cedar Canceled

We regret to inform you that the race next weekend at Big Cedar is cancelled.  We were hoping that a large enough crowd would show up at Monster Mountain and give us some leverage for negotionation on rescheduling the race at that track.  As many of you already know, the SCCS series scheduled a race at Big Cedar on that weekend as well.  Due to the low turnout at Monster and to avoid racing on a dirt bke practice day, we were forced to cancel this race.  This race will not be rescheduled.  Please stay tuned for more information about our next race date which is still to be determined.

    Thanks,

    SEQuads Staff

  • Monster Directions

Since Monster Mountain is a little out of our normal driving range, I wanted to make sure everyone knew exactly where to go.

  • Crossbones Benefit Race

As many of you may already know, Troy Miller, the owner of Crossbones MX Park, crashed a couple of weeks ago and broke both ankles. This injury will require quite a bit of medical work and hospital bills. Troy has been a huge supporter of quad racing and basically one of the founders of our organization. He was there when this all started and has stuck with us through the recent hardships. Troy has been great to us and now it's time for us to give back to him.

On September 23rd, Crossbones will host a combined bike and quad race at their track. Most of you have been to this track and know how much fun it is. This is a non series race and series points are not awarded, but we strongly encourage anyone to attend that can. Troy deserves our help.

More details on the race will be posted as they come out, but it will start at normal times on Saturday morning. There will also be quite a few quad classes, but maybe not the full gamut of SEQuads classes due time constraints.

  • Monster Mtn. Rescheduled to Sept. 30th

Due to the weekend of September 23rd being very crowded at Monster Mountain we have decided to reschedule the SEQuads race to the following weekend. Round 15 of the 2006 SEQuads season will be held on September 30th at Monster Mountain. Due to time constraints around practicing on the weekends prior to the event we have added an extra hour of practice time. As usual, gates will open at 7AM. Practice will begin at 9AM and last until 11AM. This should give everyone at least two different practice sessions on the track. If you have been to this track you know how valuable that extra practice session will be.

We are very excited about this event and appreciate the Monster Mountain staff allowing us to change the date this late in the season. This date change will allow us to have full rein at the facility and put on our best event of the year. We have some more exciting announcements about this event coming soon. Please stay tuned.

We are sending out a mailer to every SEQuads member this week. This race is A MUST ATTEND EVENT for all SEQuads members. The remainder of the season is in jeopardy, not to mention next season. In order for us to continue racing at these awesome tracks we need well over 100 riders at the Monster event. If you are planning on racing quads anytime in the near future around the Southeast, you need to come to this event.

Directions to Monster are on the Monster Mountain Track Page

    Thanks,

  • Estes Canceled

Due to scheduling conflicts with the Estes ownership and track staff, they have canceled the September 9th event. We apologize for the late notice, but we were just informed ourselves. After hearing the news we had hoped to have a race on that date at another track. But, due to the short time frame we were unable to find another track.

The next SEQuads event will be September 23rd at Monster Mountain. This is one of the best tracks in the Southeast, and even the country. If you're going to an event this season, this should be it!

We'll see you at the track.

  • Two years from today...

Imagine that the setting is this forum on August 23, 2008.

User 1: Where is everyone going riding this weekend?

User 2: I was thinking about going to the Ridge.

User 1: I like the Ridge, but I would like to ride a MX track.

User 2: Let's go to Mill Creek.

User 1: Quads are not allowed at Mill Creek any longer

User 2: We used to ride there when SEQuads was around. Man, those were the days.

User 1: Isn't there another track around that will let us ride?

User 2: No, once some of the tracks started disallowing quads, they all started making it standard policy to not let quads ride.

User 1: We could always go to the Alabama Series race.

User 2: Yeah, but they only have three classes and one of them is for mini quads. Plus, we have to practice first and race last. And, we're greatly outnumbered by the dirt bikes. It just feels like we're being discriminated against at those races. At some tracks in that series they don't even have a quad class.

User 1: You're right. I wish I could go back in time and support the SEQuads series. If I had known then what I know now I would definitely try to make it out to more races. I guess I'll just stay at home this weekend. It sure is nice outside, though.

  • Chandler Mtn. Pulls Out

Due to consistent low turnout at Chandler Mountain (average around 40 riders) we will not be allowed to return to this track for the 2007 season. This was a feared response from the low numbers, but expected none the less.

We have had numerous conversations about this on the forums here, in person with various riders, and with various track owners. Business is business and at the end of the day a motocross track must make a profit. We at SEQuads harbor no hard feelings toward the ownership at Chandler Mountain and we ask that you, the riders, do the same. Sammy and crew worked hard at each and every race to provide us with a great facility on which to race. We are grateful for that.

This is a sign of what is to come in response to low rider turnout. If this series is to continue in the coming years, obviously our numbers must increase. We all realize that. Now, we are asking you how we can increase the numbers. This series, more than any other series on the planet, is designed specifically for the rider. For that reason, the rider should know how we can increase the numbers. Please share any ideas you may have.

Please contain all responses and discussion to the forum post located here: http://sequads.com/forums/thread/6110.aspx.

    thanks,
