    Warrior Race July 5th

They will be having another quad only race at Warrior MX Park this weekend.  Practice will be @ 6:00 with racing to start after practice. Last time we raced at Warrior, the track was perfect. I know it is a holiday weekend, but hopefully you guys can come out and support Jonathon and his efforts this weekend, and by doing so, give quad racing a shot in the arm.

Is anybody going to this thing? I'm still not sure what its all about. Is it a mudbog and  quad mx race only or are we just the halftime entertainment for the dirt bike guys?

How many quads were there for the mx race last time? We are thinking about going over there but its a 3 hour drive for us. Just want to make sure we will have someone to race against.

    Re: Warrior Race July 5th

I just got off the phone with Johnathon the track owner and he seems like a nice guy. We are going to be there. He said that hardly  any quads showed up for the mx race last time. All I can say about that is, I wish we had a track owner here in Georgia that would put on an event just for us.

You Alabama guys need to support your local tracks. I know this was all discussed after the last event. Enough of the bashing! Lets go racing!!!!!

    Re: Warrior Race July 5th

We drove 300 miles round trip yesterday only to have 3 other quads to race against. You can bet I wont be doing that again.

The folks at Warrior were under the impression that this was a regularly scheduled Sequads race.

    Apparently there was a misunderstanding!!!

    Re: Warrior Race July 5th

These races are NOT on the schedule. I can not afford to attend them. It is also a 3 hour(one way) drive for me. I saved almost 2 months to be able to make Bremen. I am having to do the same for Noah's. I would have liked to have went but i just don't have the money.I don't know who set this up but it was never sold on here as "SEQuad" races. Sorry You feel that way. I am sure everyone would like to have you at the rest of the SEQuad races. But if you think we should call it quits, keep it to yourself please. If SEQuads dies i guess everyone will be happy that only the upper class quad riders will get to race Nationals while there is no place to race for those who cant afford that money pit. Again, i call out all those Georgia and Alabama riders whose names i see on the National results consistently to show up for a few of our races. At least no one will point the finger at me for not trying.

    Re: Warrior Race July 5th

Everybody chill, I edited my original post because it was a little harsh. I apologize for that.

I dont know who set up the race at Warrior but I'm telling you that everyone there(especially the track owners) except me thought it was a regular Sequad race. They had the Sequad logo on the t-shirts and the plaques that they were giving out. I believe there was a communication problem somewhere. Like I said earlier, I believe it was a big misunderstanding. I dont think it would hurt for someone from Sequads to call the folks at Warrior and explain to them that their event's are not a points event for us.

Sorry for ruffling ya'lls feathers. I'll try to do better in the future!Wink

    Re: Warrior Race July 5th

If you want to hear it straight from the source then here you go.

This is Jon Jon. The announcer at most tracks you have been to in Al at one time or another. I wanted to promote the ATV sport a bit and also expand upon what we had here in AL. I approached the West's at Warrior Mx Park and presented my idea's. Johnathon West and myself invited SE Quads, Boggers Unlimited, and Bama Boggers to get thier input, ideas, and opinions. It was common knowledge that the quad scene here needed some support to make it inviting for track owners to welcome quads to thier tracks. Turnouts were so low that a majority of the tracks werent interested in racing the quads by themselves. Also due to complaints from motorcycles, they werent invited to race or even practice on the same day. To make a long story short, it was getting harder and harder for a quad to find a track that was accomadating to thier needs.

So, West and myself thought that we could get together and hold two events on the same day. A Mudbog during the day and a Quad race at night. If everything took off, I had two other tracks that wanted to jump on board with us and hold similiar events. We even talked about having practice just for quads at Warrior. I heard Brit Mansel turned everything over to Ken Pate and Ronnie Thomas. BOTH of them came to the meeting we had and BOTH of them were excited about the three race series we had put together. All the dates were set, we put them on the flyer, etc, and so on.

The first race came and the turnout was dismal. I was dissapointed. I called Ken Pate and he informed me he was no longer affiliated with SE Quads and was now into car racing. He gave Ronnie a call and Ronnie DID come to the race and apologized for the way things were being handled. I assumed, (Yeah, I know what it stands for) things were going to be better next time out.....

Hey, I realise it was a Holiday weekend. The low turnout bothered me, but when I talked to everyone, they were clueless about anything we had to offer SE QUADS.  People, I dont want to inform you of the work we put into all this. I am surely dissapointed that we had less than 10 riders at the second race and I think around 20 at the first. We still are men of our word and will hold the third race August 23rd, but I wish we could get a little support. I dont know who is in charge or who to talk to, but I wish SOMEONE would contact me and let me know if we are wasting out time, energy, and money on this effort for you guys. If you dont want a race, just let me know so I dont prep the track, hire flaggers, medics, concessions, T-shirts, Plaques, ETC and so on. People wont drive 3 hours to race themselves. Gas is $4.00 a gallon, this I know. Diesel is higher. So I can understand the frustration you guys that showed up have. I can be contacted at 205 533 4323. If I am doing something wrong, PLEASE let me know.

    Re: Warrior Race July 5th

First off let me clear the air. I NEVER said I was not affliated with SEQuads. I said I had taken a break from racing myself, but I never said I had quit helping out the series.Because I am no longer racing I am only going to be at SEQuads Series races. I apologize for not being at your race Jon Jon. Ronnie and I promised you we would pass out fliers and post the race info on our website both of which we have done. Maybe we should have made sure the info was bumped back to the top for the second race but I will be honest with you it slipped my mind. Here is the link to the original link I posted about your series http://sequads.com/forums/thread/11151.aspx  .Make no mistake I am still involved with SEQuads.

Currently Retired From ATV racing. New toy in the works.

    Re: Warrior Race July 5th

The owners of the track have informed me that there will no longer be a quad race on the 23rd of August. Sorry for the inconvience.

    Re: Warrior Race July 5th

Completely understandable Jon. Thanks for your effort though. There are simply a lot of us who are having to save money just to make the SEQuad schedule.  I think we could get a good turnout at Warrior next year if we can get it on the regular schedule.
