i had an edelbrock on my ex "anybody remember that?" for about 2 rides. threw it away biggest piece ever. put a fcr carb or honda 450r carb on it. ive seen guys on other forums do that and pick them up cheap off ebay.

ok this  is my 2 cents  take the hot cam and chunk it  alone  with the pipe  and go buy a tc racing cam  and tc racing pipe the shorty supertrapp one this is the best combo ( in my opinion ) for this bike   it will pull harder longer and smoother ive owed several of these bikes with lots of different kinds of motors (ct 416/sparks 440 ect)and the tc motor buy far was alot faster   i think i have a 39 fcr for a 400 ex in my shop but may need a little work done to it  probly a rebuild kit  but a fcr will help with the throttle responce but its not going to pick like a 450 becouse it has alot longer stroke but there are alot of things you can do to help that like shaving the fly wheel the stock one weighs a ton i would also suggest putting some larger head studs in cause the 440 is pron to blowing head gaskets also that big motor gets very hot cause the cylinder walls are thin  a larger oil canister may helt that  the 400 is a good bike and you can get hp out of them ive seen as much as 43 hp maybe 45  but thats about it but thats huge compared to the stock 26 hp . sorry got on a rant dident i .  if it was me i would shave the fly wheel first you will be suprised  how much that will help and its alto cheeper than a $500 carb most machine shops can do it  just take some  off on each side of the magnet thats on the fly wheel but becarful not to take off to much .   wow  that may be the most ive ever typed

Yea Kody, if i had the money, thats what i would do !  But ive got to do this a little at a time unfortuntly. unless you wanna give me yours.  lol

The cycle shop i work with told me my gear ratio isnt right, so im fixing that now. I'm also getting a programable cdi box. I will diffently get the fly wheel shaved ( that makes sence )and look into the price of TC racings stuff. If your intrested in selling the fcr carb ( if you still have it ) i want to do that as well.
