    Quick 919:

So the pit bike race did'nt work last year!  I guess it won't work unless people have them.  Well everyone in my town have them.  I've got a couple of buddies that have tracks at their house and have pit bike races for fun.  I know not everybody has one  Maybe it's a bad idea I don't know???  Who all has a pit bike?  Most likely only a few....

I don't actually own one.... but since I due all the wrenching on it I bet I could talk my 8 year old nephew out of his crf70 for an afternoon.

    Re: Rider Turnout

i dont think the pit bike idea is going to save the series, i dont think people will drive to the tracks just to ride a pit bike and i dont think a lot of people have them or bring them to the track

ok now onto something else, how can we get the count back up? we need to advertise the site and the series. some ideas would be to do the world of wheels show in february, or on friday/saturday nights that we dont race carry a few to the classic car meets. tons of people walk through, the guys there are very nice and welcoming as long as your not acting like an idiot. we just need to get the series name out there. we could have a stock class, when we run the D class it was usually the larger of the group, but maybe we need to make it a stock class. maybe allow tires wheels handelbars and axle but everything else stock.

another thing, we can place flyers around the tracks, like gas stations and other places.that people would visit thats local. i know with dirt tracks the little towns all come out on saturday night, because there is nothign else to do. unless it was family or friends most people wont drive an hour or more to watch a race unless their just fans but they might not konw about the series.

    Re: Rider Turnout

I have always wished the bike series would do a stock class to keep the cost down. Until this year Chris always ran a "stock" bike anyway. But if you also ran at another series you would be at a disadvantage. With SEQUADS you have the advantage of "being the series". Think how many races you could run for the price of an aftermarket 4 stroke pipe and a cherry bomb. Tires, handlebars, airfilter element, chain and sprockets, are riders choice in bike AMA stock class so you could do that. Those usually are just maintenance items anyway. Think of the fun it would be to have 12 mini quad riders on the track, all with the exact same powerplant and suspension, or 8-10 guys all on the new Suzuki quadracer equally matched.

    Re: Rider Turnout

Scott , Brit has put more time and effort into this series since he stopped racing. If you don't know the reasons behind him hanging it up then dont call him out on a public forum. Now back to the ideas.

The flier thing is a wonderful idea all you have to do is download them and print out all you want or if you cant print that many let us know we will get you some. I know Mike Blakeney has been keeping a stack with him from day 1. He always passes them out at practices or wherever he runs into riders he doesn't know.

im not calling brit out in anyway
This is not the place for this conversation. If it bothers you that I chose to do something else in my free time, please talk to me in person about it. I work hard with this series and hold it's progress above any progress made toward my "bike racing career". I honor your opinion and criticism, but you're not in a position to accurately critique dedication to this series. It sounds like you're searching for a person with whom to lay blame, ineffectively.

Please don't let this response keep you from posting any other criticism you may have. We need all the help anyone can give.

    thanks,

    Re: Rider Turnout

a stock class is a good idea. but theyve got one at the nationals and theres mabye 10 at max in it. but u can get away with a stock bike. thats what most fast local guys ride around where im at. but man i respect brit so much. hes a cool guy that ive got to know some and i just respect him. ok so he rides a bike now. i can see that. but u ride for years on the same thing and some times its time for a change. as long as its fun. we're all out here havin fun. and the dude makes good pictures too!

We have had a stock class on the list all year and have not had one single registration in it that I'm aware of.

    Re: Rider Turnout

yea we do. but i still dont think a stock class will save it. we can blame gas $$, money, travel, etc.... but we just need to get all our friends, there friends, brothers, their brothers and maybe sisters too to the races. i know i sprend the word here in the GA. but its a long way to some of em. ive tried to convince the local calhoun, bremen, tunnel hill all the local tracks. "hey guys yall need to got to this." their great. i get a "ok" or "we'll c" but they dont show. we just need to find all the non regular guys. example: if we go to a big national. how many guys come out of the wood work to those? most never rode or maybe couple times. how tho? umm im just the idea guy.

    Re: Rider Turnout

Yeah we gotta get flyer's out. I've been to every bike shop around bham and I always look at the boards and I've never seen a sequads flyer. I was only tipped off to this website and series by someone on jmrpowersports forum when I was asking about mods for my raptor. If they hadn't told me about it I might have never ran across it. There should be not just one flyer in every bike shop but maybe like a flyer with a folder or bin under it that says take one.(because you know if someone's interested their just gonna take the one that's posted) Also you can make smaller handbill sized flyers to stack by the check out of the parts counters. Talk to the managers and ask them to give a flyer with every new atv purchase even utlity quads.

Another way to cut cost on awards is supply them ourselves. Just get stick on tags ( with round # and track name and 1st,2nd etc..) You could get one type of award each year to use all year and just get different tags for each event. And don't stick all the tags on untill you give them out so you don't have any extras. There's alot of tophy shops around bham so you could shop around for the best price and buying in bulk 1st-5th for the hole year should be less also. Heck if anybody's crafty with a saw and a router you can make em yourself. Cut em all out, stain them, find a good color picture or photoshop something and put a piece of clear plexiglass over it and your done. The only thing you have to get made is the name tags.

I don't know just late night brainstorming.

    Re: Rider Turnout

I, personally, have taken many stacks of flyers to bike shops just to have them disappear shortly thereafter. I think the trash bin may have been the recipient of my flyer stack.

I like the idea of a flyer with a pocket on it. I'll try to design something this weekend.

    Re: Rider Turnout

I too, have taken flyers to bike shops all over Bham and other towns. Just like Brit said they were no where to be found a short time later. I have also put them on their message boards too. I don't want to go back to racing with bikes and will not. After this past weekend I don't know if I will still be in this sport. I love quad racing but these things will take the fun out of it. I know these things happen and it has happened to me. It just seems like this year it has happened alot more. We will just have to see what the future hold for SEQUADS. Ronnie

    Re: Rider Turnout

I believe the only solid way to save the series is to limit the amount of tracks we go to. Right now we are racing at eleven different tracks. If we cut back on the  number of tracks  and number of races, that will force people who want to race to come out to the races that are left. This is probably  not applicable right now because were straight in the middle of a series. I truly  believe if we don't step it up to the 70's and 80's in turnout, this will be our last year as an individual series.

violence shouldn't be the answer, but it better be an option

    Re: Rider Turnout

thats a good 1. we're kinda spreading ourselves to thin. find out which tracks people like and go to those more.but also some of the best tracks there is not very high attendence.
