My review on the new lt-r450. Read this!

Triple T was my first time riding the new Suzuki and I thought i'd tell you guys what I thought. Alot of you might know me. My name is Ross Hammett and I race a K&K YFZ, and my father recently purchased the new bike for me. I have to say it the most comfortable and best handling stock bike I have ever ridden. The front end may be just a tad too stiff but it wasn't enough to through me off. I also noticed that in situations where the Yamaha would bottom out that Suzuki would hold its own and make it as smooth as possible without bottoming out. In terms of how comfortible it was it felt similar to my YFZ. My YFZ has a +2 steering stem and Universal handlebars, and sitting on the trailer the bend and height on the two looked basicaly identical. They felt the same also. So the handlebars aren't what I would first change. I think a must-have would be a steering stabilizer, in addition to nerf bars and a kill switch. Because this bike seems to take what little imput you put into it and put alot more than expect out. You can just feel evey rut in the track through the handlebars. It doesnt rut-hunt, it just tends to make the ones that it hits feel more jaring. Oh! And power! This thing will rip in stock form. But it lacks the "built motor" snap that alot of us need to get the front end up when needed. But it could pull a holeshot if you want it bad enough. My Yamaha tends to have so much power that it will just spin in any type terrain, even on concrete in fifth gear. But the Suzuki seems to put all of what it has to the ground and get it moving as fast as possible. Im guessing that it would put out to 39-40 HP without the baffle and no airbox lid. Thats awsome compared to the Yamaha in stock form. I dont care what anyone says, i've seen the dyno charts, and a stock Yamaha only puts out around 26 HP. But im not sure what it will do without the airbox lid and the baffle. But if you did that to the Yamaha and you wanted to get the maximum performance out of it you would need to play with the jets and thats just trouble. It also handled corners alot better then I expected. I was like "wow!" This bike railed the corners. It would brake loose on demand if you need it too. Incase you didn't know, Doug Gust is going to run stock tires on the bike. There good tires. I think they hook up better then the holeshots. It might be the power, or it could be how tacky the tires are, im not sure. But they work just fine. The fourth and fifth gear are a little tall, but that's changable. I think it would depend on what type of track you would race on. This might be random but, the seet is awsome too.its in between the Honda and the Z-400. Its just about right. I love this bike and we plan on turning it into my primary race bike soon. But this is all the time I have to write. Hope you understood what i've wrote about. If you've ridden one, comment and let me know what you think and how you feel. Thanks!

That was a good review of the new Suzuki Ross, very informative. thanks. You looked good on it and raced well, taking a lot of good passes on it without any problems around some fast riders. Coop

i haven't had a chance to get mine on a track yet though i plan on it this weekend. i have ridden it up and down the street some and the motor feels really good for a stock one. it doesn't have as much bottom end as my Z did but that wont be hard to fix with a 13 tooth sprocket. i was also really surprised at how good the stock exhaust flows.

Ross, I'm glad you liked the quad. I'm with you, I felt comfortable on them almost immediately. Just a side note, make sure you get some nerfs and a kill switch on before the next race. As our rules state, you only get one warning for not having those components on your quad. The next time, you're not allowed on the track. I would hate to see that nice machine sitting on the side of the track. Blingstar and Pro Armor have their nerfs ready, but I don't know if Pro Armor is shipping yet. Precision has their stabilizer ready and units in stock. If you're interested, let me know and I'll put you in contact with the owner. That's what we put on mine and it made a world of difference.

Thanks for the feedback. Brit you said to make sure that i have the kill swich and all that good stuff, It's all on order. Blingstar stuff to man. It should be sharp. There are two things that have us worried, them not getting in on time and the kill swich frying the ignition system. Norris Quinn and I got to talking about it and he wasn't sure if there was a different way that we had to put it on due to the change in electicals compared to a Yamaha or Handa. Is there a change that you know of that we need to be aware of? It would be nice to know.

Here's the only info I know about: http://www.atvscene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5721

I give no guarantee that this works. I'm just sharing a link. I wasn't there when they put the kill switch on mine, so I have no idea how they did it. If you can't find out from Pro Design, let me know and I'll try to get in touch with one of the mechanics at Suzuki. They're not very responsive lately, though. I can't understand why??? Big Smile [:D]

So Ross, does it have enough power to make it on top of the table top from the inside lane after the tabletop at Calhoun:).  J/K man, glad you like it.  What did you do w/ your old Z400?

HAHAHA! Very funny. I actualy think it might.... Just kidding. What have I done with my Z400 you ask? I plan on turning it intomy cross-country bike and running it to keep in shape. I might just put on the stock a-arms and axcle and race it like that. It might sit a little tall because of the shocks but i bet the long shocks would help in keeping the quad comfortable in the woods. I hope......

Ross, i was able to hook my kill switch up today. if you need help give me a call. it was not hard. on the left side under the seat you will find a black plug with a blue wire and a white wire going into it. hook one end of the kill switch into the white wire and ground the other end of you kill switch.

Thanks for the info michael. I'll check that out. Now i just have to wait to get then darn thing in. All these parts are all on back order. If one of the parts we ordered is on back order the rest of it doesnt come in until the part on back order gets in stock. It would have been better to buy it seperate. But when I get it i'll be sure to get in  contact with you if i need it. Thanks.
