Re: Points so far in 2008

You must be a newbie at the Nationals. People spend thousands of dollars chasing points and they want every point they are entitled to and not lose points to sandbaggers or trophy hunters. I wish Ricky Deering would chime in and explain that you can be protested and DQed for dropping back, he is up to date on alot of rules at the National level. You can run B all year at local races and run C at Nationals and if someone wants to protest you they have to show proof and YES you could be DQed. If you run money classes you can be protested and forced to run Pro Am at the Nationals.

Re: Points so far in 2008

Naw i ran the Nationals last year also in C Class just like im running C Class this year.... there is guys running the same class 3 YEARS STRAIGHT, (Kyle Lard #16 Kawasaki)... so how can u justify that.... Just cause  people run a higher class in local series dont mean they have to run the same class at National Level.... show us where it states other wise... if not leave Sequads out of ur bussiness...

Re: Points so far in 2008

You are mistaken go read AMA rules page 5 section B 2. You can be protested and DQed AND forced to move up to B.  I am NOT trying to cause trouble, the rules speak for themselves. You can run any class as many years as you want as long as you do not finish in the top 3 in total points then you have to move up a class.

Re: Points so far in 2008

I saw no more reason to trash up our site. It was about as useless as what we are wasting our time discussing. We are all quad riders. This crap is why i stopped riding bikes. Wanted to be around better people. No sense in reminding myself of those days. Me,personally, would step back and try and understand the situation instead of doing what is obviously going to be done. But then, again, that's me.

Re: Points so far in 2008

I am going to weigh in here even though I don't have a dog in this fight. I dont't think someone should be protested for giving a class a shot. However I don't have a hand in making the rules for other series. To the person who said folks need to stay out of SEQUADS buisness; I really don't think you should be telling folks to stay out of SEQuads buisness. That might make some one feel unwelcome in our series we work way too hard for someone to give us a black eye. Bottom line is rules are rules, I will not be a party to cheating in ANY series, and I think I can speak for Ricky and Ronnie as well on that matter.

Re: Points so far in 2008

Taken from the FAQ section under amateur racers ATV website.

    18.  If I race “A” (or “B”) locally, can I bump down a class at the Nationals?

No.  If you are an “A” rider locally you must enter the “A” class nationally.  If you are caught riding out of class you will be disqualified with potential additional disciplinary action.

    14.  Can a youth rider participate in a higher youth age class?

Yes – but be careful! If you are a youth aged (7-11), you should ride the (7-11) year old class. If you turn 12 before the end of the year and you voluntarily advance to an older age group, you will not be permitted to drop back to the (7-11) class. This applies even for local events. For example, if you are 11 years old and race in the (12-15) year old class at home, you cannot race in the (7-11) at the Nationals.  So be very careful before you voluntarily advance an age group before you are required to do so. The AMA recognizes a youth rider's age as of January 1.
